Kigali, Rwanda · Full time · Apply by 20 September 2026
At NSP Associates Ltd, our work sits at the intersection of accounting, tax, and consulting, and our clients rely on us to keep their finances accurate and their filings compliant. As our client portfolio grows, so does our team. Today we’re opening applications for a Tax Accountant to join us in Kigali.
If you take pride in clean books, precise filings, and being the person clients trust with the details, this role was written for you.
About the role
As a Tax Accountant at NSP, you’ll own the bookkeeping and tax compliance work for a portfolio of the firm’s clients. That means keeping their records accurate and up to date, preparing their tax declarations correctly and on time, and being a dependable point of contact throughout the year. You won’t be working in isolation either. You’ll coordinate closely with senior accountants and management, escalating the complex issues and growing your judgment on the rest.
The work falls into three areas.
Bookkeeping. You’ll record client transactions accurately and on schedule, reconcile bank, cash, and balance sheet accounts, and review supporting documents before posting. You’ll spot and fix discrepancies, keep records audit ready, and prepare periodic reports such as the trial balance, profit and loss, and balance sheet for client review.
Tax declarations. You’ll prepare and file VAT, corporate income tax, withholding tax, and payroll or social security declarations for your assigned clients. You’ll calculate liabilities in line with the law, apply the right deductions and exemptions, track every filing deadline to avoid penalties, and help respond to queries and audits from the tax authority. Staying current with changes in tax legislation, and advising clients on what those changes mean for them, is part of the job.
Client and team coordination. You’ll manage your portfolio end to end, communicate proactively on documentation and deadlines, and support both internal and external audits with well organized records.
Who we’re looking for
We think you’ll thrive here if you bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Relevant experience in bookkeeping and tax preparation, ideally in an accounting firm or professional services setting
- Strong knowledge of Rwandan tax laws, filing procedures, and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, and confidence in MS Excel
- A high standard of accuracy, strong organizational skills, and the ability to juggle multiple clients and deadlines at once
- Clear written and verbal communication
- High integrity and a responsible approach to confidential financial information
A professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CAT, or an equivalent is an added advantage, though not a requirement to apply.
Why NSP Associates
Joining NSP means joining a firm where your work is visible and valued. You’ll manage real client relationships from the start, learn directly from senior professionals, and build a broad base of experience across bookkeeping and multiple tax types rather than being boxed into a single task. For an accountant who wants to grow into a well rounded tax professional, that breadth is the point.
How to apply
Applications are online. Head to our careers page, create an account, and you’ll be directed to a short online exam. Candidates who do well on the exam move forward to an interview, and full exam instructions are provided before you begin.
